Powerful Performance at GUINNESS THE MATCH

A musical concert featuring Tuface Idibia was not the primary reason for the large crowd of spectators at the Abuja Stadium on 1st June, nevertheless it was his sonorous voice and powerful performance reinforced by Meyer Sound speakers, that got the audience erupting in delight during the Nigeria versus Argentina friendly organized by Guinness Nigeria Plc. Tagged GUINNESS “THE MATCH”, the  international football match which ended with a score line of 4-1 in favor of Nigeria, had in attendance top dignitaries such as the vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the former speaker of the house of representatives, state governors, top FIFA and CAF officials - and the professional sound engineers of GQ Acoustics.

From the outset, Tuface had set the pace with an inspiring rendition of the National Anthem alongside Omotola Adebayo. Ace Comedian, Basket Mouth anchored the whole event and the duo seemed to have unleashed a winning streak in the Super Eagles of Nigeria resulting in the trouncing of the highly rated Argentines. Some of the songs performed by Tuface include favorites such as ‘Implication’ and ‘Olele’ to the excitement of all, including even the FIFA officials!

This project did not come without its own difficulties; GQA had been called upon to provide audio solutions because the main stadium PA system was unserviceable. The technical crew rose up to the occasion with its Power Crew fresh from a professional audio training in Germany, swinging into action to ensure an even power distribution.  The System Design engineers, no less trained, properly handled setup procedures according to the system plot while the System Tech tuned and aligned. This they did with precision. Everyone present at the stadium marveled at the awesome sound production from the Meyer Sound systems engineered by GQA crew, especially the international production team of GUINNESS “THE MATCH” from the UK - Derick Zieba and David Moore.

They indeed found it a pleasure working with the technical crew from GQA.

In his appreciation message to the company Derick wrote … A special thanks to … the entire crew for the hard work and dedication put into the show. The client was extremely happy with the result. Please be assured that should I work anywhere in Nigeria again, I will recommend GQ Acoustics Ltd to supply audio services. A special thanks to Samuel Anya, Ebenezer Odunlami, John Ofonba, Dunke Onibokun and Adewale Olaomo (GQA Engineers). - Derick Zieba

A total of 40 700-HP subwoofers were used round the pitch. 8 MILOs and 8 MICAs were used as the FOH system while there were 2 MJFs and 2 JM-1Ps on stage.
